Some would argue (myself included) that a holiday feast is incomplete without the cranberry sauce.
Layered on turkey, added to stuffing or mixed with fresh steamed veggies – it seems that cranberry sauce elevates the taste of everything it touches.
I also love the ruby-red colour which adds beautiful visual appeal to the plate. Presentation is key don’t forget!
Unfortunately, most traditional pre-made cranberry sauces from the grocery store are laden with refined sugar. Continue reading

With colder months come the unwelcome cold & flu season. Both of my kids are currently fighting nasty colds which include sneezing, coughing, runny noses, high temperatures and restless nights. It’s an understatement to say my house is a tad run down and we’re all feeling a bit exhausted. Luckily I’ve been able to avoid it so far but I’m currently in full ‘take care’ mode.
I felt the house could use a little pick-me-up. So how about a treat that is heathy, refined sugar free and grain free (a bonus for me!)? Continue reading

Cinnamon Spiced Rutabaga
One of the dearest parts of a holiday is getting everyone in the family together and there is nothing quite like a Thanksgiving table to gather around. I love the melting candles, arrangement of serving plates, festive table linens and of course the delectable aromas that waft in from the kitchen.
It’s a blessing to be able to catch up with family and friends – all while feasting on a beautiful meal!

With the temperatures beginning to drop, I find myself remembering how wonderful a hot bowl of soup can be. Delicious root vegetables and warming spices combine into a delectable autumn meal that definitely get my taste buds roaring!
Whether it be pumpkin, squash or apples, I can’t wait to get in the kitchen and cook them up!
A great soup needn’t be complex! Some of my favourite homemade soups are very simple to make. Who doesn’t love simple?
This weekend was a busy one. We celebrated and hosted Canadian Thanksgiving (I’m in Ontario near Toronto) as well as my husband’s birthday. I was quite busy prepping for the main meal and the birthday planning. I needed to come up with some quick, nourishing and delicious meals for the celebration and soup came right to mind!
Autumn Pumpkin Soup with Raw Cinnamon Apple Topping to be exact. Continue reading
