      One of the dearest parts of a holiday is getting everyone in the family together and there is nothing quite like a Thanksgiving table to gather around.  I love the melting candles, arrangement of serving plates, festive table linens and of course the delectable aromas that waft in from the kitchen.

      It’s a blessing to be able to catch up with family and friends – all while feasting on a beautiful meal!

      2. Smell – Does the food have a favourable scent?
      3. Actual taste – How delicious is that first bite?

      This recipe is a lovely version of oatmeal and milk that happens to be dairy free, gluten-free and grain free.  It is a perfect hot breakfast for anyone unable to eat traditional oats or just looking for a change.

    • Autumn Pumpkin Soup with Raw Cinnamon Apple Topping

      With the temperatures beginning to drop, I find myself remembering how wonderful a hot bowl of soup can be.  Delicious root vegetables and warming spices combine into a delectable autumn meal that definitely get my taste buds roaring!

      Whether it be pumpkin, squash or apples, I can’t wait to get in the kitchen and cook them up!

      A great soup needn’t be complex!  Some of my favourite homemade soups are very simple to make. Who doesn’t love simple?

      This weekend was a busy one.  We celebrated and hosted Canadian Thanksgiving (I’m in Ontario near Toronto) as well as my husband’s birthday.  I was quite busy prepping for the main meal and the birthday planning. I needed to come up with some quick, nourishing and delicious meals for the celebration and soup came right to mind!

    • Butternut Squash Indian Chilli Bowl

      Indian food is by far one of my favourite ethnic cuisines.   However, it’s not the easiest to enjoy for those who suffer from food intolerances.  Milk and cream are used liberally in dishes to achieve that creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture.

      My solution to this problem has been creating my own Indian inspired dishes using allergen friendly ingredients that are already a part of my kitchen supplies.

      I decided to try an Indian twist on the classic chilli bowl with a North American autumn flare (mmm butternut squash!)

      I LOVE how the combination of these elements turned out!  Great taste, texture and it’s a very healthy meal to boot. Continue reading →
